Northern Maine General is a non-profit social service organization located in Eagle Lake, Maine. The Maine State Legislature created NMG in 1907. At that time, it was both a hospital and a home for the aged under the care of the Little Franciscan Sisters of Mary. Since then, NMG has grown, responding to local and regional needs. The agency now serves individuals throughout northern and central Aroostook County from its offices in Eagle Lake and Caribou.
The divisions of NMG meet a broad range of critical social service needs in a traditionally underserved region of Maine. NMG’s programs include physical and occupational therapy, children’s mental health and habilitation services, adult and children’s case management, residential mental health treatment for children and adults, group living, community support, training for adults with cognitive and physical disabilities, nursing home care, and assisted living.
